The strength of this image lies in the idea of representing an absent loved one (due to the rules of immigration) with a photographic cut out. It highlights the idea of a photograph as a representation of reality, and how photographs also act as reminders of those who are not with us, as a cherished memento of relationships with those who are missed and loved.
