‘Ghost’ chairs are rife among the shops at Viva Home, as well as numerous designs ‘inspired’ by famous designer furniture, and you will find these at DMZ. What you’ll also find though, are very cool statement pieces that make for great conversation starters in your house. It’s a small shop, and the bulk of it is taken up by shrink wrapped sofas and stacks of chairs, but in front is a shiny show kitchen and rows of interesting light fixtures. We made straight for the slick geometric stools, purposely overturned lamp (cue resigned sighs of: ‘It’s meant to be like that’), and giant light fixtures with pretty interior floral molding. 2-41D, second floor, Viva Home (03 7981 5951/www.dmzhomes.com).
