Fussy Sogo
Date: 12/9/09 It was sale day at Sogo. After picking my mercandise I queued up at the counter to pay. When I produced my credit card, the cashier told me to sign on the back of the card, otherwise she would not let me buy my goods - 2 pairs of stockings worth RM35.80. I refused because I have been using credit cards for the past 20 years and no vendor has fussed - even when I shopped in Beijing, Ho Chi Minh city and Singapore. I even produced my national identity card (the name is as engraved on the caredit card) as proof of my identity and they refused to accept it. Don't forget, the sale is only worth RM35.80. I do not blame the counter staff as they are merely carrying out orders. I blame the person who gave these instructions. He certainly does not know how to do business. To all credit card users - it is a security risk if you sign on the back of your credit card. It anyone picks up your lost card and uses it, you are liable because it would be too late then. You may realise that you have lost your credit cards one or two days later. Sogo should wake up. Walk the extra mile and can call up the card issuer for verification.
