Leica
Remember the famous head shot of Che Guevara, now immortalized as a pop culture icon printed on countless t-shirts? It’s taken on a Leica. How about that memorable kiss between a sailor and a nurse at Time Square? It’s a Leica shot as well. In fact, many world-renowned photographers have carved their name with Leica and even more historical moments were recorded on a Leica since the brand rolled out its first camera in 1925.
Leica is the world’s first practical 35mm camera. Unlike other cameras, the Leica viewfinder not only frames your shot but also shows you what’s happening outside the frame. To many photographers, this feature is considered sacred as it puts them in tune with the surroundings and helps them capture the heart of a bigger moment at play. Here, photography remains truthfully and romantically a slice of life.
Despite churning out a series of good-looking compacts, the latest digital reincarnation of the M series, M8, remains the pride of the brand. It retails at a choking RM21,850. And that doesn’t even get you a lense, which will set you back by another RM6,160 for a standard f2.8/28mm lense.
