First look: H&M Autumn 2012
H&M is all set to open its doors in late September, and yesterday we got a sneak preview of what’s lying in wait for KL shoppers. The women’s collection is big on the bling, but balanced out with tailored cuts and structural shapes. It’s a textural riot, with silk, velvet, mohair, leather, tweed and metallics all jostling for space, embellished with an excess of rhinestones and beads. The jewellery goes loud too (all the better to prepare for Anna Dello Russo’s accessories collection). And the men go back to the ’60s with slim lapels, cropped trousers and rich tones of mustard, wine and bottle green. Knitwear comes in textured cable kint or fine Lurex weaves for a shiny finish. Plus the accessories: real leather brogues, tweed ties, braces, and coloured socks – think a weekend down in your country mansion.
Although not all the prices have been released, we were gratified to find that pricing will definitely stay true to the H&M ethos; that is to say, it won’t be priced out of our range. The more fashion-forward among the pieces will carry a slightly higher price tag, but the basics will remain low – RM29.90 for a t-shirt, RM39.90 for a sweatshirt, that kind of thing. We’ll also definitely be getting our hands on the aforementioned Anna Dello Russo accessories line and the newly announced Maison Martin Margiela collaboration. And also the David Beckham bodywear line. Practice your queuing skills, guys.
