This spiritual and enlightening stage performance will depict the life story of the iconic Tibetan Saint, Lama Tsongkhapa for the first time on Malaysian soil. This idol held in high regard amongst Tibetan culture and history, is credited with the founding of the fastest growing school of Tibetan Buddhism in the world today. Audiences will get more than they expected with the blend of Tibetan dance art, history and spirituality showcased throughout the play.
The origins of the story can be traced back to the time of Shakyamuni Buddha who presented a young boy with a conch shell after prophesising him to be a Dharma teacher in his next life. The prophecy held true and the boy was later reincarnated as Lama Tsongkhapa. This inspiring tale continues on with the trials and tribulation he faced through his life in his journey of realising the highest human potential as well as producing many philosophical writings. His legacy has largely contributed to the teaching of Buddhism to this very day.
This production is by the Kechara Buddhist Organisation and was inspired by His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, Spiritual Guide of Kechara. The immense responsibility of making this production a success falls on the shoulder of director, Wong Fook Sen, who is well known in the theatre scene for his passion and dedication in his work. He is supported by an equally talented cast and crew, which includes lead actor and artistic dancer Lee Swee Keong. His modern yet spiritual dance styles come together in a perfect blend especially for this performance. Renowned celebrity fashion designers Bill Keith and Eric Choong are involved in this historical production as well.
Rich with Tibetan culture and imagery, this much-awaited public performance will run from December 17 – 19, 2009 at PJLA, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.
