Who would have thought that wines and the pool bar concept would go well together? Well, for this, you have to give props to this nightspot. Thankfully not a greasy, stained, hole-in-the-wall joint, this place is rather clean and well maintained. The interior – lit by fluorescent lights – has no fancy decor or fixtures; instead all you’ll find are five well maintained American pool tables (and some bar tables and chairs for customers to kick back) occupying the space within. Like a typical pool joint, the pace here is laid back where customers bond over shooting balls. Games can be had for RM21++ per hour. Unfortunately, if you’re intending to spend hours playing pool, don’t expect to get any discounts or rebates off the hourly going rate. Tough.

Where does the wine element fit into the scheme of things? Just head to the back section of the outlet where the small dedicated wine section is located. Over 50 wine labels from France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile, among others, are available for enthusiasts. Do note that you’re only allowed to order by the bottle (costing RM80 upwards), and not glass. The exception is the house pouring (RM18++ per glass), with the variety of labels changed every two months to offer the novelty of the new. And on a monthly basis, you can also have the wine of the month deal at a special price (which varies according to the type of wine). Whatever it is, it’s just as well the wines are sold by the bottle, as you can enjoy them with your friends over rounds of pool. Just make sure you stay sober enough to aim right when hitting the balls.

If the drinks are more your concern than the game, perhaps you’ll want to take note of this deal: buy two bottles of wine and enjoy a five per cent discount when ordering the third bottle. For those who reckon that playing pool and having wine at the same time is just wrong – too fancy, or for pansies, perhaps? – be heartened to know that beer is also served here. If you use some common sense, you’ll choose the right time to head over and enjoy the happy hours deal (daily, 4-8pm): RM70++ for two jugs (normal price RM40++ per jug). With the spare change, you can pay for an extra hour or two of pool. Besides, this is the main reason you’re coming here in the first place.
