NEO Restaurant & Luxe Lounge

A few months ago we told you about Tamarind Hill, the newest incarnation of the original eatery that graced KL a decade ago, how it's opened again near Hap Seng Mercedes and allowed the Tamarind Restaurants signature 'jungle chic' to come downtown and flourish like so much vertiginous foliage.

What we didn't tell you then was what it's time to tell you now: that as part of Tamarind's obvious plan to conquer the world, or at least KL, they've opened up a club to accompany their range of properties. NEO (is Keanu my waiter for the night?) as it's called, is a gorgeous venue, located in the former Citrus premises, now gutted and remade with the Tamarind DNA. For instance there's the water features that define a Tamarind venture, in this case a wall of water that gurgles across the whole club as well as liquid

Chef Thiti, the restaurant's food designer, has concocted some unusual recipes that will catch the attention of eaters: Hot Air Agent is Coke-glazed lamb loin; Hot Liquid Agent is a white cod, stewed mushroom, caramelised onion and veal stock reduction concoction and Blow Torch Agent is foie gras with mango puree, oven dried watermelon and mint salt; all fairly impressive fare. There's also a Luxe Menu which starts from 10pm till late and naturally there's a great selection of drinks and high-end cocktails (Orange Brulee, Black Forest, Apricot Cider, Balzamic Fraich, Desire Myrtille are some of the concoctions on order) that are mischievously served by the smiling staff. They'll keep guests in good stead as the night shifts from chilling early evening to later evening dancing of which they'll be a good amount of. DJ JP, a noted world house musician, is slated as the resident DJ; a good fit if ever there was one.
