Club Neverland
An offshoot of Singapore’s famed club of the same name, this newly minted club has taken over the space from the short-lived Dragonfly. Neverland, without Peter Pan, is one of those clubs that wants to project itself as the cool, swanky hotspot. But we find the exterior décor of the club bordering on tacky, what with the right-in-your-face massive letter ‘N’ on the façade.
However, they more than make up for this taste blunder with a very cool neon-lit entrance and state-of-the-art stage and ‘runway’. Obviously, they followed the same formula as the Singapore establishment and created a ‘hybrid’ club experience.
Inside, Neverland is designed around a 3D Projection Mapping show involving DJs, live bands, artistes performances, emcees and choreographed dancers. Since the previous club did not see much success, the question is: Can Neverland finally make something out of this space and inject new hype into KL’s nightlife? We have yet to spend enough time at the club to tell, but judging from what we’ve seen, the hybrid concept might just work and gain a following. Ian Loh
