Gonbei San
There’s little pretense at Gonbei San and their traditional menu has sustained a stable following over the years. Stride past the bamboo trellis at the entrance and sit at the wooden table where staff happily recommend you their signature dishes. It’s easy to blow your salary here if you’re partial to wagyu beef but less pricey dishes can be just as rewarding such as the sashimi platter composed from slabs of otoro, salmon belly and raw prawns. Set meals don’t come cheap but Gonbei San assures you their stellar food quality. Everything is presented on conventional Japanese pottery and garnished with flowers – more touches that illustrate the restaurant’s attentiveness.
