1936 marked the launch of Cathay’s first cinema, The Pavilion, in Kuala Lumpur. Three years later, in 1939, Cathay Organisation Holdings opened with a big bang in Singapore, sweeping audiences off their feet with its revolutionary air-conditioned 1,300-seater Cathay Cinema at the Cathay Building with seats as comfy as armchairs. From the 1960s to the 1970s, Cathay blazed a brilliant trail with over 70 cinemas in Malaysia and Singapore. Today, Cathay continues to be one of the key players in entertainment, leisure and lifestyle.
Each cinema hall is unique with its own themed interior. Ergonomic and plush seats are supported with almost 1.1-meter back-to-back distance, giving more legroom and comfort. Their stadium-styled seating guarantees unobstructed viewing.
There are also spaces reserved for 2 wheelchairs, as well as double seats for loved up couples to get all cosy.
