Turtles are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers (Kame wa igai to hayaku oyogu) is about bored housewife Suzume, who leads a very mundane life. Her husband has been transferred to work in another city, leaving Suzume on her own. The most demanding job of the day is feeding her husband’s beloved pet turtle. Suzume is getting fed up of this daily grind, but then she sees a newspaper advertisement, which reads “Spy needed”.

Having enough of the bored monotony, she answer the ads. Her first job is to make herself completely inconspicuous by creating a “cover” as a boring housewife. However, everything seems to conspire against her and then something happens to completely upset the plan.
