The World's Greatest Places

By Lim Chee Wah

Seldom have we come across a coffee table book with photographs so stunning that they make you lust for the chance to see the destinations for yourself. From iconic cities like New York, London and Paris to natural wonders such as the Amazon and the reefs of Oceania, and ancient sites of the Mayans and the Egyptians, this is one really big book; totaling at almost 700 pages. It doesn't just cover the popular destinations but also remote ones, for instance Bandiagara (Africa), Keoladeo (India) and Chaco Canyon (America).

The pictures gloss over a two-page spread with inset information and more photographs of the site and surrounding attractions. Instead of using standard publicity shots from hotels and tourism boards, which most books of such nature tend to do, these photographs, and there are over 2000 of them, are originals shot by some of the world's best photographers. It's wanderlust bound and delivered to your couch in hardcover.
