AA Blind Traditional Massage
Jalan Thambypillai is a mecca for massage centres run by the visually impaired, and most of the therapists are professionally trained at the Gurney Training Centre for the blind. Enshrouded behind dilapidated shop houses and flats, one would expect such a centre to look seedy but the room we had is orderly and hygienic. Our masseur has a highly acute sense of touch; pulsing rubs on our sore spots and hitting the pressure point on our back, foot, shoulders and head. The massage – powder or oilment based – is best to cure rheumatism and backaches. You may have to share rooms but there’ll be curtains to ensure privacy.
