I have never been able to comprehend the pop culture phenomenon that is Justin Bieber. Sure, he boasts movie star good looks and a string of popular singles, but does he really warrant a global legion of loyal fans and tight security measures that befit a political leader?
Relatively new to us here, the crowd seemed to absolutely love Neon Trees at MTV World Stage 2011 last July 24, and most of them knew the words to all the songs too, much to the band's surprise. A few hours before they set off for the remainder of their Asian tour, we caught up with drummer Elaine Bradley and guitarist Chris Allen, who gave us a quick word in on the band.
I’ve been told that I bitch too much; that I am a ‘bitter, old woman’. And I agree. Why can’t I just shut up about anything? So another year, another instalment of MTV World Stage, and this year our MTV-loving youth who were lucky enough to win their passes got to see the likes of homeboys Pop Shuvit, Korean boyband Beast, Neon Trees and, of course, headliners Thirty Seconds to Mars.
