The annual month-long comedy festival is back and typically, the lineup is impressive. We have the kings of Malaysian comedy battling it out with international comics as well as parody and improv shows. With bigger names this year, it's difficult to choose which shows to attend so we ease the process by picking seven.
MasterJoke Malaysia (May 7 & 9)
Harith Iskander and Douglas Lim, arguably two of the country’s most popular comedians, clash in a mouthwatering showdown to see who bags the MasterJoke Malaysia title.
D’Arranged Marriage (May 10–13)
This entertaining comedy about Indian arranged marriages enjoyed a successful run in KL last year as well as sold out shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Australia and South Africa.
Actorlympics (May 16 & 17)
This eagerly anticipated live improvisational theatre features Afdlin Shauki, Harith Iskander, Douglas Lim, Kuah Jenhan, Jason Lo and Adibah Noor, among others.
Ministry of Humour (May 20)
The boys from ‘That Effing Show’ join forces with Kavin Jay, Papi Zak, Rizal van Geyzel, Dr Leong and Andrew Netto in this one-off comedy show.
Kuah Jenhan: ‘But Why?’ (May 26 & 27)
Malaysians ask a lot of questions, and charming local comedian Kuah Jenhan continues that trend with some questions, few answers and a whole lot of jokes.
AI-YO-YO! (May 26)
Popular pop songs (think ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles) are given a local makeover in this parody show.
Andrew Netto: Inked & Approved (May 25)
The seasoned comedian will prove yet and again why he's one of the longest-standing young comedians in the scene.
'PJ Laugh Fest' runs from May 4–June 3. See the full lineup of the festival for more.
