Last chance: RM107 bottle of beer

If you’re interested in trying out the most expensive beer we’ve come across, we suggest you better hurry. Of the 24 Black Tokyo* Horizon bottles that were brought in by Taps Beer Bar late last year, only seven of the short run, limited edition beer are left at the craft beer bar. Priced at a whopping RM107++ per 330ml bottle, this imperial stout does not come cheap, but with a 17.2 per cent alcohol base volume, what you get is a smooth and sophisticated taste that’s closer to wine.

Black Tokyo* Horizon is a one-off collaboration between Scotland’s BrewDog, Nøgne ø from Norway and Denmark’s Mikkeller, which are arguably the most progressive brewers in the business. The three independent European brewers aim to provoke change in the beer world through innovation and creativity, and this effort is testament to their vision.

An amalgamation of ideas and inspiration extracted from the brewers’ respective big stouts, Black Tokyo* Horizon is an exciting blend based on Mikkeller Black, BrewDog Tokyo* and Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon. Pitch black with little to no foam, this drink is packed with dark malts, high quality hops and layers of flavour, ranging from an initial sweet, syrupy sensation to a rich dark chocolate and roasted coffee-like finish.
