The Dark Knight Rises: Not a review

The most anticipated film of the year finally opens today. We know most of you have gotten your tickets for tonight or this weekend. So to avoid spoilers, we will not post a review now. It is something you should watch for yourself without more people piling on expectations on the film in your head, lest that hyperbole of an anticipation that has been building since 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’ gets in the way of you actually enjoying the movie.

But we will say this: You have no idea what’s coming for you. Christopher Nolan is a brilliant, crafty director. The trilogy is perhaps the best superhero series there ever was because they don’t feel like three conjoined stories, but rather one intensive narrative that took seven years to tell. And in that vein, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is a fitting, gracious end to a legend that is so emotionally satisfying we wouldn’t want to see another remake again – because we’d want to preserve this exact version of the cape crusader in our head.

Figurines

And if you need to have a piece of The Dark Knight before the DVD hits the stores (hopefully with a director’s cut or whatever extras), there’s the highly detailed figurines from Mattel (RM99.90) based on this film. There’s The Dark Knight, of course, and Bane and Catwoman. The best part? Each of them comes with a piece of the bat signal; collect them to assemble into a fully functional bat signal which you can project on walls.

To get you prepared for the show, here are the three trailers from ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy:

Batman Begins
(2005)

The Dark Knight (2008)

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
