#TFIFriday: Six best things to do tonight (Apr 27)

Once again, Friday has loomed upon us and to welcome the lead-up to the weekend, we have our usual list of recommendations. One of tonight’s agendas involves saving an endangered species and if you can’t think of the last time you participated in something as such on a Friday night, it’s a sign you should. If you lean toward film and art, we have a foreign film showing in cinemas or an equally strong art exhibition. Here are six best things to do in KL tonight:

Art: Chronicle of Lines
Khairul Izham’s debut solo exhibition sees the promising Malaysian artist tackling polarising themes of abstraction and figuration, conscious and subconscious, intentional and accidental in a series of works inspired by the use of lines in intricate imagery. If you didn’t get that, see it in person.

Film: A Separation
Yes, we know The Avengers is hogging the buzz but try out something less big-budget tonight. We caught ‘A Separation’ this week, an Iranian family drama which snagged the Best Foreign Film award at this year's Oscars. Both strangely disturbing and satisfying, the brilliantly performed film might just surprise you.

Food:
il Lido
The quintessential Italian restaurant in KL at the moment, il Lido doesn’t disappoint. Their pork-free menu sitting between RM30-RM80, offers a selection of over 30 different starters, homemade pastas, seafood and gourmet meat at recession-friendly prices. If it’s your first time, the super prime wagyu beef won’t go wrong. Should you feel like a post-dinner drink, head upstairs to the Lounge Bar for one of their famous cocktails and a stunning view of the KL skyline.

Music: Rockin' 4 the Environment
The weeklong music festival in support of sun bears is coming to an end now but tonight marks one of its biggest highlights including performances by Amir Yusoff, Free Deserters and Rafique Rashid at 7.30pm. Have you thought of a more fun way to save an endangered species? We haven’t.

Nightlife: VOLT at Vertigo
KL’s newest DJ darlings – Phil K Lee and Viona are joining forces to bring KL a cranking a new Friday regular. The night will see everything progressive from progressive house to progressive techno. So strap up and slam cocktails the night long.

Performance: A Stud, A Babe & A Latte Boy
The musical comedy starts off with one girl feeling appalled when she was only described as 'nice' in her yearbook. Now that she’s in university, can she turn into a swan or is she doomed forever as a girl who is just simply 'nice'? Expect uplifting covers of tunes from ‘Wicked’, ‘Singing in the Rain’ and ‘Glee.
