#TFIFriday: Six best things to do tonight (Apr 20)

What could be better than spending your Friday night seeing some art and sitting down to a highly-original meal after? Or partying it up with a couple of DJs in NASA space suits? Or watching a few short plays about the end of the world? Whichever you lean toward, here are the best things to do in the city tonight:

Art: Prayer for a Masterpiece
A solo exhibition by Malaysian artist and writer Anurendra Jegadeva, the collection will consist of nine portraits aimed at representing the realities of living in a multicultural Malaysia. Once you’re done at We-Ling, walk along the bridge to Mid Valley and grab dinner at one of these restaurants.

Film:
A Better Life
We couldn’t be happier that this film made it to our screens after much hype surrounding Demián Bichir’s Oscar-nominated role. The film is an emotional account of a Mexican immigrant belonging in a country which isn’t his, but more importantly tells a fetching story of father and son.

Food: Bistro à Table
A favourite among foodies in KL, Bistro à Table is one of those restaurants perfect on a (possibly rainy) Friday night for when you crave unintimidating (but original) food paired with an unpretentious setting. The brilliant Chef Isadora Chai seems to be churning out variations of her infamous pavlova and this week, try the pomelo pavlova with Chantilly cream, cassis coulis and kaffir lime leaves.

Music: ICOM Celebration Series: Tribute to Musicals
Sing along to your favourite tunes from My Fair Lady, Cats and Les Misérables as the International College of Music (ICOM) presents the biggest hits from Broadway and West End musicals in this tribute concert.

Nightlife: Manufactured Superstars at Vertigo
The American EDM duo will dish out an exciting blend of house, dance, electro and pop in an open format style. The boys will probably be decked out in signature matching crimson or white NASA spacesuits which as you know, makes for interesting Friday nights.

Performance: It’s The End Of The World, Now Run Screaming
Yes, it’s another apocalyptic play. This time, it’s short plays, each about 15 minutes long chronicling the end of the world. Presented by The Electric Minds Project, the plays are not all doom and gloom – some are set to break audiences into unexpected laughter.
