The title hints at some irony as the fierce winds and raging storms typical of the monsoon are far from silent. Having grown up in Terengganu, Chen Wei Meng has remained largely mesmerised by the strength of nature during the season of storms, inspiring the painter to dedicate this entire body of work to the monsoon. In his latest series, expect simple, straightforward descriptions of the monsoon – roaring seas, dark clouds looming and strong gusts of wind.
