In this double exhibition, the husband and wife team of Victor Chin and Numpueng display their extremely different art pieces, making this exhibition one with much diversity.
Numpueng became an artist when she started painting pictures for her son’s room. Having had no formal training, Numpueng began painting using the painting materials already in the house. She is inspired mostly from her son’s story books and modern painters
such as Paul Klee. Her art is comprised of acrylic paintings of animals, figures and flowers, using basic shapes in different sizes, colours and textures which were painted a certain way to appeal more to children.
Artist Victor Chin presents 20 of his paintings inspired by a stay at Pulau Perhentian. These abstract acrylic paintings on canvas uses diverse colours, textures and shapes to show the quality of light in the sea, the way it shimmers and dances in the waves and how these elements work together to complement each other.
