This four month long project (that Time Out KL is proud to be associated with) will be kicking off with a video screening that showcases artistic exploration through video and screen based mediums.
Enjoy art? Like alcohol? Ever wanted to link the two? Then look no further than the Bombay Sapphire Art Projects 2008 (BSAP08), a mini art festival officially beginning this September. The result of a collaboration between Bacardi-Martini Malaysia and Valentine Willie Fine Art, Time Out Kuala Lumpur is proud to join them as media partner. The festival encourages and supports artists in developing and exploring new ideas and directions in their art.
Scheduled on the program is an exciting array of exhibitions and projects examining the various forms of new media practices, used by new artists from across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Pushing the limits on producing art, these new artists have come up with different processes and approaches for expressing their thoughts and views regarding their surroundings.
In September, things kick-off with the Southeast Asian Video Screening, which showcases artistic exploration using video and screen-based-medium. ‘Safe House’, a room installation by Chang Yoong Chia, will be shown in October, followed in November by Lim Kok Yoong’s video installation ‘When You’re Not Your Body’. The festival will end with a closing potluck party in conjunction with the launch of the KL Art Map in December.
The festival encourages developing work and will give selected projects a maximum grant of RM10,000 to be realised in the Valentine Willie Fine Art project room. The programme also hopes to promote the exchange of ideas, cultures and practices among artists and their audiences.
