The IGB Dato' Arthur Tan Chess Festival is back for its ninth edition where chess players from around the world compete for the grand prize of RM5,000. Players of all ages and playing skill are welcome to join the event which offers a total prize fund of more than RM 45,000. In addition to that, other winning categories include the top 15 players in the Open Section, top ten places in the Amateur section and the top five in the Seniors section. Special prizes are also allocated for Best Lady, Best U16, Best U12, and top National Rating.
World Chess Federation (FIDE) titled players will be given free entry while players with FIDE ratings will be charged RM50. Players without an FIDE rating will be charged RM100. Closing date to register is Aug 15; entries received after this date will be charged double.
